Client Services

Our CSW is a part of the Aphasia team and has worked with clients who have had strokes and brain injuries, for many years. Client and family work is a part of the role with this group. Our CSW co-facilitates the Aphasia program groups and the Brain Stroke Recovery Group. Sherry works with the Aphasia team to offer Communication Partner Training for clients and families.

If clients need other community resources, ARTC’s CSW will refer them to the appropriate services with their permission. The CSW also offers short-term groups to clients on diverse topics such as “Resilience” and “Mindfulness Training”.

Caregiver Services

ARTC offers 2 caregiver groups that are virtual at this time. This provides greater access to family members from Brantford -Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk to participate.

  1. Weekly Self-Care Group

This is an intensive 2-hour, weekly program for caregivers where we learn about good self-care and how to prioritize our emotional, spiritual and physical health. By doing this, we can better meet the needs of our loved ones. This group engages in meditation, selected reading, breath work and other self-care tools to enhance growth and knowledge as caregivers.

This group meets on Zoom every Monday 10-11:30 a.m. The fee is $30 / month.
  1. Monthly Caregiver Group

This group meets on Zoom the fourth Tuesday of each month from 1 pm – 2:30 pm. There is no fee for this group.

If you have a family member at ARTC and are interested in either of these groups, please contact our Client Support Worker, Sherry McKinnon.

“We know the best caregivers are the ones who look after themselves first, so they can serve from a place of fullness”
